Director of Global Manufacturing Operations
Lead iCOMAT’s global manufacturing — set strategy, scale sites, and drive lean excellence in advanced composites. Hands-on leader ready to transform industries.
Join iCOMAT – Revolutionising the Future of Lightweight Manufacturing!
ICOMAT is an advanced manufacturing company with game changing technology that delivers the lightest structures possible for aerospace and automotive, at a scale, rate and cost efficiency that far exceeds existing composite production processes.
We have ensured iCOMAT is made up of people with the drive and imagination to grow a business that will revolutionise the use of composite materials to enable the next generation of lightweight cars, planes and spacecraft.
We build and operate automated factories for composite materials, delivering components to Tier 1 and OEMs. The business has 3 main divisions that focus on the development of automated production machines, development of software design and production tools and lastly the operation of the factory.
Now working with >25 customers (multiple leading OEMs) and earlier this year we completed the largest ever Series A in composites manufacturing (link) to fuel a significant scale-up with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US.
The business currently has facilities in Gloucester UK (Factory 1), Bristol UK (Hardware R&D Centre) and in Athens GR (Software R&D Centre).
As we scale and grow, we’re looking for talented individuals to help us continue driving this transformation. If you're ready to be part of a pioneering team that’s reshaping industries and pushing the boundaries of technology, we want to hear from you!
About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Director of Global Manufacturing Operations to lead and optimise manufacturing operations across all iCOMAT facilities worldwide. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will be responsible for ensuring operational excellence, driving efficiency, and scaling our manufacturing capabilities as we grow our global footprint.
This is a strategic leadership role requiring a hands-on approach combined with big-picture thinking. You will work closely with engineering, commercial, and supply chain teams to ensure we deliver world-class composite components to our customers.
What will you be doing?
Own and drive the manufacturing strategy across all iCOMAT facilities (UK, US, and future sites)
Lead site manufacturing managers and teams, ensuring alignment on goals, standards, and best practices
Build and develop best-in-class manufacturing sites: your primary mission is to establish operations that set the benchmark for quality, efficiency, and operational excellence in advanced composites manufacturing
Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles and cross site interaction to optimise efficiency and reduce costs
Oversee capacity planning, production scheduling, and resource allocation to meet customer delivery commitments
Lead new facility setup and commissioning activities for expansion sites
This role is based at our UK headquarters in Gloucester, our largest centre of operations. However, we are open to exceptional candidates based elsewhere who can commit to regular presence at our UK facility
Who You Are
Autonomous and decisive: You can run global manufacturing operations independently, making tough calls without needing constant direction. You take full ownership and deliver results with minimal oversight.
Relentlessly focused on performance: You are obsessed with margins, efficiency, and quality. You instinctively hunt for improvements: financial, operational, and technical, without waiting to be asked.
A true master of your craft: You know manufacturing inside-out. You've spent years on the shop floor, in the process, and in the numbers.

Proven track record of managing multi-site manufacturing operations
Strong understanding of composite materials and manufacturing processes (highly desirable)
